Draper 45545 2500W Quiet Garden Shredder
Please note: The Draper 45545 does not satisfy our normal review criteria – there is simply too little information available. However, the Amazon reviews it has received have been uniformly positive. It is primarily included here as it is a powerful quiet shredder which might make a viable alternative to the Bosch AXT 25D

The Good
The Draper 45545 is a robust reliable machine. Its 2500W motor is very powerful and seems to be able to deal with any woody waste up to 40mm you put in it.
Quiet in operation, the Draper shouldn’t tax your hearing or your neighbours’ patience.
Where the Draper really scores over the Bosch is that it doesn’t have that annoying, safety interlocked collection bin. You can collect your waste in whatever bag or receptacle suits you. One reviewer even suggests putting a plastic sheet under the machine to collect the chippings. You can then scoop up the debris and deposit wherever you like.
In short, this is a basic, powerful electric garden shredder that will deal with just about any woody waste you can throw at it.
The Not so Good
There really isn’t much to complain about with the Draper. Like all crusher type shredders it doesn’t cope well with damp, green, leafy waste. The cutter/striking plate may need to be adjusted to get the best mulching/shredding action. It’s a bit heavy – again like all of the crusher style shredders we have ever seen – so it is a bit awkward to handle.
That’s it really.
Should you buy it?
I don’t know if you should buy it. There is so little information from users that it is hard to draw any conclusions. It would seem to be a viable, simpler machine than the Bosch AXT 25D. So, if you have predominantly wood based garden waste to dispose of the Draper 45545 could be for you.
If you do buy it please come back here and tell us all what you think.
